One of the highlights of my week is my yoga class with Charlotte. Yoga has helped me to increase strength and flexibility in my body but more importantly, it has helped to give me a calm peacefulness that has improved my life so very much. When I turned 50 years of age,I became concerned about my health. I had done some yoga with video tapes but I was interested in trying a class. Red Elephant Yoga is growing and I could not be happier. After four years of study with Charlotte in the evening class, I welcomed the opportunity to join a mid-day class with Angie Kimbel. What a lovely way to refresh and renew oneself. Out of the daily hubbub and into a place where I can relax and release my muscles from everyday tensions. I leave the class calmer and ready to tackle the rest of the day. Angie has thoughtful concern for each student's well being and knack for finding where you need to focus to make the pose a little deeper, a little easier. Charlotte, I can never put into words how much you have influenced my life. You are such a kind and wonderful person and I can't find the words to express it properly. I started Yoga classes with you while I was planning my wedding. It was a crazy time for me, but you were always there to relax and refocus me. I felt safe with you and knew I could truly let go and give into the process. I could feel that you honestly cared for me and my well being. You are an amazing teacher and have a truly beautiful soul. Whether you know it or not, you share a part of yourself and spirit during each session. I was only a student for about 3 - 4 months, but I feel like I have known you all my life and a part of you is still with me every time I use a pose or need to meditate. I had been going to your classes for about 3 months and even though I was a beginner, I learned so much about breathing, relaxing and focusing on the present. These things came in very handy shortly after the new year. I had minor outpatient surgery in January 2002, and while I was home recovering, I had a pulmonary embolism. I had started to panic when I remembered what you had taught us about focusing on the breath. It immediately calmed me down and I believe helped save my life. Because I was so calm I was able to tell the paramedics exactly what was going on and they in turn knew what to do for me. I started taking yoga classes with Charlotte shortly before I became pregnant. I continued attending my regular yoga class through out my pregnancy and Charlotte worked with me when the poses weren't suitable for my condition.
